The Compact Disk Dummies, consisting of Flemish brothers Lennert and Janus Coorevits, have carved an impressive path since their victory at Humo’s Rock Rally in 2012, Belgium’s premier band contest. They have dominated the Belgian festival circuit with performances at Les Ardentes, Pukkelpop, and I Love Techno, and are set to headline the main stages of Pukkelpop and Rock Werchter this year. In the Netherlands, they performed at events like Bevrijdingsfestival Nijmegen, Westerpop, and Breda Barst in 2023.
Their debut single ‘The Reeling’ made a significant impact, leading to their stint as the house band on the satirical program ‘De Ideale Wereld’ in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, they returned with the hit single ‘Cry For Me’, which garnered airplay on various Belgian radio stations. Their EP ‘Satellites’, released in October 2019, featured DEUS-frontman Tom Barman delivering a characteristic parlando on the title track.
In February 2020, the duo received the ‘Best Dance Award’ at the Belgian Music Industry Awards (MIA), surpassing acts like Lost Frequencies, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Regi. Their highly anticipated album ‘Neon Fever Dream’ was subsequently released.
The unique fusion of dance and pop defines the music of Compact Disk Dummies. Each track is a banger that would be on heavy rotation at a dance festival, but resonates even more when the two brothers perform live. The vocals are catchy and drenched in reverb, blending seamlessly with pulsating beats and heavy synthesizers. Their latest single ‘There’s No Sex Without You’ showcases this dynamic perfectly.
