Turfy Gang burst onto the music scene in 2021. The group, consisting of 7 students from Maarssen, immediately made waves with debut singles ‘Booty Call’ and ‘Je Voelt Ons’! It all started as a joke; the 7 guys made music to chill to, and they wanted to listen to it on Sonos. Since Sonos couldn’t connect to Soundcloud, they had to upload their tunes to Spotify – the rest is history. Joris and Koen are the frontmen of the group, with Joris starting to make music at the age of twelve under the name “JRVO”. While he had some success with streams in his early years, the real breakthrough came accidentally when he released some tunes with Turfy Gang.
CYNICAL ‘SORRY’
The positive energy and relatable lyrics, especially for students, have led to one hit after another. The first Turfy Gang tracks were already successful, but their real breakthrough came after their appearance on FunX. The men performed their single ‘Buren’ live, and the footage immediately went viral on Instagram and TikTok. With this hit, where they cynically apologize to their neighbors, they garnered over 13 million streams on Spotify alone – earning their first gold record!
FAR FROM DONE
Meanwhile, the men continue steadily. They released new singles featuring well-known names within the scene; from Partysquad and Bokoesam to Young Ellens. In March 2023, the boys dropped their biggest hit so far; ‘Padellen’. The track quickly climbed the charts and was a huge success on TikTok. By the end of that year, the boys released their first project; Loafers van Puppyleer EP. In 2024, the boys are set to perform on even bigger stages than the year before, and they aim to surpass the success of ‘Padellen’ – so keep an eye out.
